SILA

- Winner 2010 NAACP Image Award for "Outstanding World Music Album"
- Winner 2009 SF Weekly Music Awards for "Best International Act"
As a child growing up in a small village in Kenya, Sila remembers tuning in to a shortwave radio for the latest pop offerings from the West. By way of a faint, crackling radio signal, Sila first became acquainted with the guttural howls and shrieks of the Minister of Funk - James Brown.
“One of the first James Brown songs I remember hearing on shortwave radio was ‘I Feel Good.’ Growing up very poor in my village and having a song like that play on the radio was very inspiring,” Sila says.
His exposure to James Brown, along with such artists as the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley, inspired Sila to pursue music, which he says was far from a well-respected profession in Africa.
Despite his career choice, his parents supported his decision and sold cows and goats to raise money for his send-off to the U.S. Sila sings of the African experience: the problems he and many others face every day, in a language understood throughout the world. His lyrics and beats reflect the music, the language, the energy, and the spirit of growing up in Africa.

DJ Dragonfly
As a global traveler who’s hitch-hiked, bicycled and train-hopped some six continents and 37 countries, DJ Dragonfly is Northern California’s most sought after purveyor of cutting edge global electronica. Bay Area dance enthusiasts place him in the top 10 percentile at the DJ polls for his unique sound: A trans-tempo fusion of exotic idioms, rhythms, melodies and indigenous voices. Bump this up with live electronic percussion, layer it over dub, hard downtempo, drum n bass, funky breaks, house and you have the perfect tone for dance floor mayhem. Using bass as the navigator he sets his decks on a course that weave its way from Gibraltar to the Ganges and beyond. In its wake the mix is a global shakedown that leaves no continent unturned in search of the perfect groove!
As a DJ he is most often found in the underground conscious dance scene, and is a regular at events and festivals such as Earthdance, Shambala, SolFest, Techno Tribal, Bioneers, Anon Salon, Groove Garden, Symbiosis, Worldly Sights & Sounds, Burning Man, Yoga Journal Conference, ANDC, Harbin Hotsprings, the West Coast yoga circuit and more…

and the inimitable ...
The Jug Dealers
The Jug Dealers hit the road four years ago as an old time jug band, wowing festival audiences and even receiving a spotlight on NPR's All Things Considered. Starting with homemade instruments and Vaudevillian antics, they have since recruited some of the best tallent around, rapidly expanding into a larger, more sophisticated sound. With an all star mash-up of Classic American Roots, Hobo Funk Jams, and New School lyrics, the Dealers bring a raw energy to the dancefloor that is nothing short of Hyphy.
Although they are steeped in musical history and elements of old time showmanship, they continually bring a freshness and relevance to audiences as diverse as the Hip Hop and Jamband scenes. Bust out your train hopping gear, polish your best interpretational dance moves, and come see one of the hottest bands in Sonoma County!
Music on the Main Stage
Poor Man's Whiskey
Main Stage, Saturday Sept. 25, 4-6 pm
The Bay Area's outlaw music bards bring a reputation for high-energy live shows and an incomparable fusion of folk, punk, rock, and disco to stages and festivals nationwide. This "High-Octane Hootenanny" will certainly delight those interested in a foot-stompin' good time. Poor Man's Whiskey has evolved into a ragged, spontaneous beast pulling from equally deep wells of story-telling originals, expertly crafted covers and zany on-stage shenanigans.

Dgiin
Main Stage, Sunday, Sept. 26, 2:30 - 4 pm
Gin, as most of us know it, is a strong colorless alcohol flavored with juniper berries. Another less widespread meaning of the word djiin is a mischievous spirit, often confined to a bottle due to reprehensible acts. Dgiin is better known around Sonoma County as a band with a unique style encompassing various cultures and influences and songs sung mainly in French.
The band originated 8 years ago in Santa Rosa and can be described as French-Gypsy-Funk with a twist.
The Flamenco-Django-esque band puts on one memorable show accessible to all types of tastes and ages. Their energetic performances draw a lively crowd that can dance all night.
